Beginning of Week 3

We started this morning with 35 campsites to prep for arrivals today. Several were coming in to escape the smoke in Wenatchee which has turned the air quality into hazardous conditions for breathing.  There is a slight haze here so we can tell there is something in the air but not too significant.  The State is still allowing campfires in the park in their approved fire pits which is amazing to me.  One of our tasks is to rake the pine needles away from the fire rings before campers move in so as to lower the risk.

There were a couple of skirmishes between the campers and the park officials.  One group thought their reservation was good till tomorrow (but it wasn't) and the next party showed up for tonight. The first party wanted the second party to find a new site so they wouldn't have to move.  The  2nd party said no, they reserved that site and that was the deal.  1st party tried to get Sonny involved in helping to find another site and then tried to blame him for misinformation.  We got out of there quick to avoid anymore confusion.  In the end, they got mad enough to go home altogether.  Another party came in last night without a reservation and then was mad because they had to change sites as someone had previously reserved their site for Fri and Sat.  They were blaming the Park system and saying that Canada didn't do things that way.  And would we please hurry up and help them so they could go play golf!  They did move into another site where I think they can stay for two nights so they settled down.

We saw a piliated woodpecker this afternoon. We hadn't ever seen one and they are huge!  No time to get my camera out before he flew off.

Bob's toy pile grew to include $.37, a lead sinker, a dinosaur, and a backgammon piece.
Can you see the little tiny chipmunk on the fence?  He and his friends have been raiding the feeder.
Sonny tried out his new grill by cooking veggies and sausage skewers for dinner this evening.  They were tasty.
